LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER HAPPENINGS

LIBRARY NEWS

Since the middle of March, we have had   many activities and  classes visiting the library.  Among those working in the library were Mr. Sevigny's French 4 and 5 classes continuing work on their year's project and Ms. Evans AP Art History class looking at major artists and their works.  Miss Fellom's Intermediate ESL Classes have also been to the library to work on their "states" project, while members of  Mr. Kelley's class were working on their DBQ's.

Ms. Collins' PA English class  researching materials for a psychoanalytic analysis paper on Shakespeare's Hamlet.  Mrs. Finazzo's AP English classes have also been using the library to get information for their "major poet" project.  Mrs. Bodenstein's  Business Ownership class has been to the library to research selected companies and their major competitors.   During the same week,  Mrs. Jackson's  Intro to Occ class held its  "labor/management" negotiating session in the library.

Ms. McHugh sponsored a HOBE training seminar for selected students one day.  This training enables the students to work with younger children on drug and alcohol awareness and prevention.

On May 7th, sponsored 12th grade Social Studies classes, the Suffolk County Board of Elections will be bringing their V.I.P. (Voter Information Program) to the high school library.  This program which includes an actual voting booth will teach the seniors the importance of voting, how to vote,  how and when to register, and  how to use absentee ballots.  Students, who are eligible, will have the opportunity to register and all students will have the opportunity to use the voting booth to vote in a simulated  election.
